About Me

I have been involved with the breeding and showing dogs for 40 or more years, starting with Afghan Hounds in 1963 and my interest in Papillons started in 1990, obtaining my first one in 1992. I have been Secretary of Lichfield Canine Society, a position I held for 21 years until I retired in 2002, and was made a Vice President and Life member of the Club. I stood on the South Wales Papillon Club's committee for a short while, before being elected as the Newsletter Editor for The Papillon (Butterfly Dog) Club, therefore came off the South Wales Pap Club’s committee as I don’t think it fair to be on more than one Breed Club committee at a time. As well as their Newsletter Editor, I was elected Hon. Secretary of The Papillon (Butterfly Dog) Club in 2001. Prior to being ‘immersed’ in the Papillon world, back in the early 1980’s, I was on the Midland Afghan Hound Club committee.

My judging career spans many years, I award CC's in Afghan Hounds and have owned and bred Champions in the breed, before being besotted with the Papillons. I have had the honour to judge at The South Wales Papillon Club’s Open show and in February 2004 judged The Papillon (Butterfly Dog) Club’s Open show. In 2005 I awarded CCs for the first time in Papillons at Midland Counties Canine Society Championship show. Then in June 2006 I had the pleasure and honour of Judging the Papillon Club of Ireland's Club Championship Show (FCI rules), awarding Green Stars for the first time.

My last Afghan passed away in 2003 and I now concentrate on my Papillons. I have bred four Champion Papillons to date, three being the only dogs I have sold abroad as show prospects, and with limited breeding. A record that I am proud of. Another who won well in the ring, winning one CC and a number of Reserve CCs has now been retired for maternity duties.

My first overseas Champion was South African Champion Lorah’s Jazzmaster, owned by Mr & Mrs N Bates, who is litter brother to my Lorah’s Livin’ On The Run (1 CC 6 Res CCs) who was retired for maternal duties. My second overseas Champion was Australian Champion Lorah’s Hot Shot, owned by Miss Rebecca Grabham of the Welona Papillons. ‘Shotty’ flew out to Australia the day after Crufts 2003 (March) and became a Champion in October of that year. The fourth overseas Champion is the multi BOB winning Am Ch Lorah's Secret Of The Wings, co -owned with my friend Roseann Fucillo - Cilloette Papillons in New Jersey. It is hoped that 'Dak' will be shown at Westminster 2007. Dak is grandson of UK Ch Lorah's Spellbinda who was my first homebred Champion of the breed out of my first litter. I am now showing her two grand-daughters who, with limited showing, have done well in the ring having qualified for Crufts 'for life' by gaining their Stud Book Numbers. One of these grand-daughters, Lorah's Step In Time, was awarded the Res CC at Border Union 2006 is litter sister to 'Dak'.

I have had another addition to the family this year, though he does live with his co-owner/handler Jenny Allday and that is 'Rupert', who is known in the showring as Saxonmill Ptolomey at Lorah's. Rupert still only a puppy has qualified for Crufts at the few shows he has attended. When he is still enough, he will have his own page with photo's... and there was me saying I would never have another Afghan!

All my dogs are bought up and live in the home, so are well adjusted and used to everyday noises. They are fed a nutritious diet which helps maintain good body condition and coat. They have plenty of free running exercise to keep them happy and healthy. Sometimes I have puppies for sale to the right home, but not to Puppy Farmers. My adult dogs are regularly PRA and PL vet checked and found to be clear.
