Contact MeCarolyne Allward-Chebsey If you wish to enquire about having a puppy (or an older Papillon, which on rare occasions I may let one go) from me, please take time to read this page. If you are prepared to be patient and wait, please send your reply with the following information:-
All my papillons live in the house and are not kennelled outside. Papillons love their human companions and want to be with them. Puppies are born in the bedroom and at around 4 to 5 weeks of age are moved down to the kitchen and have access to the rest of the house and adult dogs so see all the normal daily household activity that goes on. My puppies are acclimatised to different people handling them from a very young age which helps with their development as they get older. I do not have children, but they are used to them as my neighbours grand-daughter comes and says hello to them periodically while they are out in the garden playing. The puppies I pet home are sold without papers; I do give a copy of the pedigree, plus a lot of reading material/information in a 'puppy pack' on looking after your puppy as well as, of course, the diet sheet and what food he/she is used to. I am always here to offer advice when asked and I will do what I can to help you. The puppies will go with a contract which is to safe guard the puppy throughout his or her life (I will take back the puppy at any time throughout its life for any reason that the owner cannot keep it.). From 8 weeks of age I give the homeopathy nosoode vaccination and they will of course be wormed. All these details will be given in the 'puppy pack of information' that goes with every puppy. My puppies are fed a variety of foods so that they are not just used to one type. I believe that any reputable breeder should offer help and advice to anyone who has brought one of their puppies and it is my opinion that no Papillon puppy should leave the breeder at 8 weeks of age as they are just not ready for their new home at that age. I usually keep my puppies until they are at least 12 to 14 weeks old, but sometimes let them go a week or two earlier depending on the experience of the new owner and the development of the puppy. If the quality of the litter is such that I am not sure of, I tend to 'run them on' until they are 4 to 6 months of age. By 'run them on', I mean I want to see how they develop for the show ring. If you are after a puppy with 'show potential', expect to be patient until the right one comes along for you. I am very critical of my own dogs that I sell for the show ring. If I am not prepared to take one in the ring myself, then he/she will not be sold as 'show potential'. If you already have a dog, a larger breed, I would need reassurance that both breeds would not be left alone without supervision as I would worry that the large one may inadvertently hurt the puppy. If you have young children, again I would need re-assurance that your child/children would not think that the Papillon puppy is a fluffy toy to play with while unsupervised. I would hate for the puppy to inadvertently get hurt by a child, who may not be aware of what they have done. This could give cause for the puppy to end up a little snappy towards children, as could happen with any breed, and Papillons are not a snappy breed. If you have any other queries that you want me to answer, please feel free to ask. If you buy a puppy from me, I will be available for the lifetime of that puppy to help and guide you in any way should you find you are unsure of anything or having problems understanding something about your Papillon. Even if you do not buy a puppy from me, I still offer help and advice, so please do not hesitate to contact me. I will endeavour to answer your email within a few days of receiving it but sometimes life gets hectic and I am not able to be at the computer every day, but I will reply. I do not sell to Puppy Farmers or Third Parties.
